The programme
The spatial designer's approach is both creative and strategic. It begins with careful attention to the client's needs and an in-depth analysis of the site and its context. Next comes the concept stage, where innovative solutions are devised to make the most of the space, its circulation, its uses and its atmosphere. This takes shape through sketches, technical drawings, 3D models and choices of materials, furniture, lighting and colour. The designer then coordinates the various trades involved to make sure the vision is delivered exactly as intended.
The qualities needed to join ESDAC are, above all, motivation, a taste and enthusiasm for artistic and creative work, an open mind and curiosity.
